Stripers 11/20

After having to cancel a charter Saturday due to helm check valve I jumped on to help Capt Rich with a charter on his yellowfin Sunday . Rich made quick work running way south to get on the bass at first light. . Stayed on a steady bite from day break till about 1030 and headed back in. Most of the stripers were in the 28-32 inch range with some 36 inch fish . all fish were heavily gorging sand eels

Steady Blackfishing 10-9

Finally got back out on the water on a nice day, Headed out with Craig so he could try and catch his first blackfish.Didnt take him long to get the hang of it and in no time was putting some nice tog in the boat. Nothing huge just steady pull of keeper size tog with a few to 6 pounds. Nice day for October for sure. The amount of BIG knuckleheads we threw back today made me sick as they were crushing crabs, can only imagine how good the bite could have been if we were fishing for them with clams. We each kept our limit of 1 legal tog for the table.

BIG BLUEFINS 8/9

Got the call from Captain Rich that he had finally been able to check out a spot he was sure should have bluefins on it WAY off the beaten path. Not only were there bluefins there they were BIG ones.He told me to really go over my gear as these fish were going to test our tackle to the limits. Was like an 8 year old trying to go to sleep on Christmas eve waiting for the alarm to go off after just 2 hours sleep.Met Capt Rich, Ronnie, and John at o dark thirty to head out.

The yellowfin ate up the early morning seas and we were at his spot for sunrise.Second drop of my jig and I got CRUSHED by a big bluefin heading back to Hatteras at 50 . tried pushing the drag up only to pop the leader. John then hooked up and boated a nice over fish. I popped two more leaders in minutes and switched to a heavier lined rod.we were having 2 and three on a a time, some being eatin by a school of sharks that had to number close to twenty. Just had dropped down a STINGO gold 200 when I really get hammered , and there is nothing a can do but watch my spool quickly evaporate almost to the backing. I fight the fish back to the start only to have him make three more of the same runs. This tuna is whipping my ass , going round and round the boat. John grabs the rod to let me put my arms down to get some blood back into them and I go back at it again. when we finally see color the tuna is LAZILY swimming alongside the moving boat as though its not even hooked, makes one more run and we slide it into the tuna door , take a quick pic then slide it back out to revive it boatside . AS it starts to recover I watch my PB tuna of 71 inches swim back to the deep.we then get covered up with mahi and as Rich is throwing sardine chunks in a bunch of yellowfins enter the just started slick. we picked 4 mahi and 7 football yellows before the sharks came back on us. the needed recoup time with the smaller fish allowed us to drop down for some more big bluefins before heading to the barn with our over and under bluefins and the 7 yellows and mahi before the afternoon storms hit.Capt Rich def put us on one of the best tuna days I feel could be spent on the water jigging bluefins

BLUEFIN 7/31

Got out to fish for some bluefin on Captain Joe G, ride the Sykk Physh this past sunday, fishing with his GF Sonia, Ryan, and John. We were only on the bluefish grounds for 2 minutes when I came tight on my Saltist Ld 40 on a nice bluefin. we had a pretty good pick of bluefins on both jigs and bait , and everyone got to catch a few as we boated 10 amongst a bunch of pulled fish.Sting O 150 and 200 def outproduced everything else we jigged with.

Def a fun day on the water with us catching both our over and under fish

Steady flukin 7/30

Met MAtt and Craig at the boat this morning to replace a cracked transducer.

Pulled the boat out and twenty minutes later it was good as new, so we headed out to do some local fluking. Had steady fluking throughout the tide, bringing 13 keepers to the boat along with Matt dropping three while getting ready to swing them in. Also had 10 nice knuckleheads.

Biggest fluke was over 7 pounds

Fluke shortcomings 7/9

Headed out to do some fluking with Craig and John after getting my T Top welded this morning. Heard the AM bite was very good and was hoping the outgoing would be good also this afternoon. But it def wasnt for us. We bounced around hitting a bunch of different spots both bucktailing and dragging baits in the ruff stuff, caught alot of fluke but 95% of them were an inch short. We all ended up catching some nice fish but def far from a good catch , still an enjoyable day with good friends
