BLACKFISH 12/18

Had Jim , John, Eddie, Eddie Jr and Matt on board today to do some blackfishing.Headed back to where we left them chewing yesterday, Matt started us off with a nice fish right away, but even after a bunch of wiggles working the piece we just couldnt get past a slow pick.Todays fish were bigger than yesterday, or Much smaller as we caught WAY more shorts today.Still was a super day for mid December.Matt had the biggest tog today at 9 1/2 pounds, along with one over 7, and Jim and I each had one over 7 also.Scratched out the day only putting 11 in the box. along with one ling, and the surprise of the day with Jr catching a Mackerel a mile off the beach

BLACKFISH LIMITS 12/17

Had a fun Captains trip today, Myself, Captain Rich, Captain Jim, And Captain John headed out of SRI at 930 this morning letting the sun come up a little, and made our way north.Had a steady but scratchy bite all day, keeping our legal limit and heading back to the barn at 3. No really big fish today, but most of the limit were in the 4-6 pound range.Alot of hardcore ball busting made for another super day with great friends !!!!!!

REALLY loving tog fishing with My Daiwa LD30, nice and light with alot of torque def brings the tog up quick.

Used the new 6 tine anchor again that Capt Joe from Papa Angels is making. Even in the stronger winds the anchor sets really fast and definetly allows a much shorter scope keeping boat swing to a minimum. Yet pulls really easy allowing quick resets when wanting to move on a piece . anyone looking for a good fast setting wreck anchor should give him a call

Tough toggin 12/10

Had Jimmy,John,Joe, Gus , and Mario out today for blackfish. Made a couple moves but really couldnt get much going . seemed like every time they would start chewing the bite was fleeting. had a few quick hits at some nicer fish , but seemed the shorts dominated the catch. Bite seemed to get better around 2 this afternoon but had to be back at the dock for 3 as two guys had to be in early for other obligations. Joe had the nicest fish today, right around the 10 pound mark , followed by Johns at around 9. Ended the day with 22 keepers. Used a new anchor that Joe from Papa angels is making, that has 6 evenly spaced tines, Really hung up quick and allowed a much shorter scope allowing us to really stay tight on the pieces.

Blustery blackfish limits 12/4

Had Scott, Bob, Ron and Matt out today for an open boat trip for blackfish.headed back to the same area we had left them chewing yesterday, and had another good day.Bob and Ron had never blackfished before , but got the hang of it very quick .Had to really wait for the fish to commit on a scratchy bite, but if you kept your sinker still while the boat swung they would eventually crush the bait.Lost alot of sinkers today, but the guys got used to the bite and ended up limiting out by 130.Matt was having a tough time today, and I hadnt been fishing till he told me he couldnt get a solid bite.So I slid in next to him and caught a limit in 17 minutes to just over 7 pounds LOLhe wont do that again LOL.Ron had the biggest tog today at just over 9 that he released because it had nasty lesions all over it.Bob and Scott followed that with a fish over 8 for each of them.Another good day in spite of the wicked NW winds.

Blackfish EASY LIMITS 12-3

Had 2 guys no show for an open boat trip today. Jimmy and I decided since we were all geared up to go hit the togs anyway, and man did we HAMMER them !!!! We stopped counting at a 6 man limit at 10 oclock ( keeping our 2 man limit), and continued to fish till 3 pm with a steady bite , and the fish getting even bigger. Released a bunch of real nice tog to my biggest just under 13 pounds on the boga, Jim having one just under 10. Tog wanted greens just as much as white leggers today. Jimmy also had a keeper cod. was a super day on the water, which has cleaned up nicely since the current rains . Have 1 spot left for an open boat tog trip tomorrow

BLACKFISH LIMITS 11/19

Had Brad, Barry, Dale and Shucker on board for the first fall blackfish charter today. Started off jigging big blues under birds but left there quick to get in some toggin. Only Brad had ever togged before, the other guys being new to the game. Barry got the hang of it quick and had a steady catch all day, Dale came on strong in the end boxing some really nice fish. Brad as usual held his own and Shucker , well lets just say he knows what a tog bite feels like LOL. Boxed our five man limit and played C/R for the last hour and a half of the trip. Def ALOT nicer on the ride in than the way out today

Blues were Big, BASS WERE BIGGER

Had Big Steve out solo today to do some jigging, first stop under working birds was Big sea bass, small blues and spike weakfish.
Made a move North and got into giant blues with enough BIG bass mixed in to make it even more fun. Birds started spreading out for a few miles allowing us to get away from the few other boats out there and really enjoy the blustery day fighting fish after fish.ALL fish def fought better in the much cooler water.
All fish released to fight another day.

lots of bait making the move south, this jig bite is going to get better everyday. Watch for open boat trips !!!!!!!!!

STRIPERS 10-11

Had Brad, Shucker , And Dale out for a day of mixed bag fishing today. Started off with a decent striper bite on jigs, with Shucker catching his first striper including a limit. Went looking for sea bass, finding some nice fish , but mostly shorts, but the slab porgy bite was super with the guys filling a 120 qt cooler with them great day on the water.

Bluefish bailout

Had Derek, his brother Adam, son Chris and their neighbor Marios out today. When booking the trip we decided sea bass would probably be the most consistant game plan.
WOW were we wrong !!!
Came out of the inlet to see giant flocks of birds crashing the water 3-4 miles off. Made the run out to see Big gator blues feeding for MILES like they were in a hatchery.Guys caught a bunch for the first couple hours, keeping 3 to try smoking them.
Off to the AC to sea bass, made a bunch of drops to find one or two fish on a pile with just a few shorts. worked a bunch of different depths till finding a few more keepers, but fishing was far from stellar, with shorts well out numbering the keepers.
Chris def stole the show today, def catching enough of the keepers for a decisive win LOL

New DAIWA Jigging rods

Recieved 1 of the new Saltist series Jiggin rods today from Daiwa. Model STJ59XHF. Cant wait for mother nature to open a window so I can get out and jig some Bluefin with it !!!!!!!!!!!!
Daiwa hads come out with three new series of rods for jigging tuna. This one of the saltist series has a little bigger handle than the origional Saltiga series, with alot of backbone. And has a gimble for using a rod Huki, for fighting bigger tuna.
Looks to be a great rod for the budget minded fisherman , as well as guys who really put their tackle to a test.

Sea Bassin 9-25

Matt and I ran out this afternoon to hit one of the southern reefs today for sea bass. Nasty SE ground swell real tight made for a lousy ride out , but the Biscuits def wanted to chew. Boated well over a 2 man limit, keeping 25 that were over 14", with a zillion shorts. Sea bass on every piece we hit today, and was drop and reel. Much nicer ride home as the sea started to flatten out.

Bottom fishing 9-23

Matt and I headed out for a couple hours today to check some blackfish hangs. was tough fishing with us catching a handful of keepers ( only taking 1), and some keeper sea bass. Think the bottom was still pretty churned up from last nights storm as the bites were very far apart, and was tough building life on every piece

8-29 Black and blue fishing

Had the Del Carlo gang out today for some sea bassin.
wasnt sure what to expect as the bottom was pretty ripped up.
We bounced around the reef looking for porgies and sea bass putting some quality fish on ice , but the fishing was really slow.
At days end Bluefish came up for about a three mile stretch giving them some tired arms, while watching the big blues slashing through big bunker schools
