OK BLACKFISHING 12-28

Headed out with Ed today to do some end of the year black fishing. And to bring the boat home for its winter nap.
Had a slow pick most of the morning, with a few nice tog in the mix.

I limited out, and Ed had three, as well as us having about a dozen shorts.

Was pretty nice out today inspite of the HOWLING wind all day .

SLOW BLACKFISHING 11/17

Headed out with Mike and Tracey to blackfish on sunday.
unreal weather for mid November, warm , flat seas. BUT the bite was very slow.
Ended p putting 7 blackfish on ice, and about a dozen shorts thrown back,
Had more Bergals than blackfish for sure.

Thought it was going to turn on when Mike had this double.
Bunch drops all had life, but seemed to be best right at the beginning of each drop, as we never seemed to build any life as we were catching.
Can only get better as the waters cool a little more

WEEKEND FLUKING WITH THE OHIO BOYS 9/7-9/8

Was out with my buddy Craig from Ohio yesterday to do some fluking with him, his son Reece, friend Dillion and Brown socks Steve , jumped on (also bringing a great lunch for the gang THANKS) .Headed out to the ruff stuff to show them how we bucktail.
Armed with lots of lead and plenty of gulp we fished hard all day . Catching was great as far as numbers of fish but only 15 made it into the box.
Steve had had big fish of the day at 6 pounds even until My rod doubled over late in the day, and Craig got to slide the net under a mat. Just over 10 pounds.

Fun day with great friends and off to do it again today

DIllions first ocean fish was a nice sea bass that had to go back.

Sunday we headed back out to the same area, and found nothing but shorts and a few sea bass.
Made a move to some lumps in 90' and found the same just shorts.

Hit a few more lumps south in 60' before heading in at 1 so the guys could drive home in the daylight today.

Was a fun weekend, but todays trip makes me think many of these fish are starting to leave their summer haunts

MORE LIMIT FLUKING 8/25

Headed out with Scott and George on Scotts boat to fluke yesterday .
what a difference a day makes . ocean was nice except for a slight heave, and we headed north to the sticky stuff.
had a good pick of fish all day with ALOT of shorts.
Few nice fish mixed in , weird fish of the day went to Scott's heart thumping EEL.

Boxed another limit as the seas rebuilt up to NASTY again and made the ride home .

As usual the ball busting amongst friends was pretty intense and makes for a great day , boxing fish was just icing on the cake.

TOUGH FLUKING 8/24

Headed out with My buddy Vinny and Austin this morning to do some fluking. Got word from Bowguide that the seas were evil and nothing matched the forcast.
Since Vinny was driving two hours I decided we were going to at least give it a try .
Made our way out to the reef, and while it was rough , It was def  fishable.
First drift we had 5 keepers, and a few GOOD ones dropped.
Next drift another 3 keepers, then only one more keeper the rest of the day, ending at 9.
With Austins 6 pound even being our nicest fish today.

Had to have caught 60 plus fish that were under 17 inches today , and seemed the nicer the day got the smaller the fish did.

MARIANTED FLUKE 8-18

After not having a good fish to weigh in for the FSOS fluke tourney I decided to go exploring Sunday .

Myself , Steve, Eddie , and Austin headed out looking for some lumps off the normal beatin paths.

Marinated GULP once again put another nice limit of fluke in the boat with some much nicer fish thrown in.
Steve had his personal best of 8 pounds. I had an 8 1/2 Pounder as well as a 9 pound 9 ounce beauty .
The revo NACL made fighting the bigger fish a dream .Very impressed with this little winch for sure

Was great fishing without another boat near us most of the day . and the ball busting as usual was pretty intense, especially when I started catching them 2 at a time.

FSOS FLUKE TOURNEY

Fished the FSOS fluke tourney today on Scott's boat with him , Ed and Anthony.

Found fish early and had easy limits today . BUT no big fish to weigh in for us today. Each of the guys had a fish right around the 5 pound mark.
fun fishing as usual with this crew, already looking forward to next week to try again

Gulp infused with Mullet Marinade made up most of the catch today !!!

SOUTH JERSEY TUNA

Got a call from My friend Mike that he had bought JR a tuna trip for him becoming a Journeyman this past week .
Headed down to LBI with Mike SR , Mike Jr and Mikes friend Andy who runs the local tackle shop, to get an early start making it to the boat FISH TRAP to head out hoping to see Mike catch his first tuna.
Wasnt too long when the first yellowfin hit a way back, and Mike got to battle his first tuna.

Andy got a funny suprise when the mate Steve came out wearing a bikini top to Serve him shrimp cocktail. Andy had put a note in the suggestion box that he enjoyed fishing in Cost Rica better because they had been served sushi while fighting fish there.

Guess Capt Bob does read those notes left to make the trips better LOL
we ended up boxing 3 yellows and had 2 come unbuttoned at boat side.

Congrats to JR on his first of hopefully many tuna, as well as a good career as an Electrician.

GOOD WEEKEND FLUKNG 8/3-8/4

Headed out with Steve on Saturday to put some fluke on ice. had some intel that there was a pretty good body of nice fluke moving up the beach. So headed south to see what I could find.
First stop I hit a six pounder on the head, and knew we had found them. beat them up pretty good even while having a crappy drift. easy limit of very nice fluke, with us throwing back keepers after filling the box.

Sunday Headed back down to the same area with Capt Eddie, and found them a little further north. Once again really nice fish  hammering the bucktails. I had my  limit in two hours, and Eddie soon followed suit.
After losing the drift we bounced around checking a bunch of spots, where I dropped two very good fish .
Then the wind came back on and the bite got crazy, with us throwing back a second limit of 3 + pound fish .

Very fun relaxing weekend spent with friends , just beating on the fluke.

Really been putting the New Revo Nacl to the test. and could not be happier with how it is performing on nice fish.
That along with GULP has been filling the box

BIG BLUEFINS with OL BROWN socks 7-30

Got Invited by my Buddy Steve to jump on a charter he had Booked with Capt Rich for bluefin yesterday.
Steve was wearing his traditional BROWN socks, he wears for good luck, He says its just like stepping in Sh/t. And after all the good trips we have shared I think he is on to something.
Left the dock at ODARK thirty, and was settled in where Rich had wanted to be as the pink light hit.
Super life around, a few wiggles to get over better marks and Rich asks do we want to troll or jig. JIG for sure was the answer and we dropped in .
Was only a few minutes and I was tight on a good one, and Rich was into an under.
After fighting the tuna for a bit I knew it was a good one and asked for a Hookie, so I could push the tuna a bit. Bumped up the drag bringing it to the boat fairly quick. A nice 65" inch blue fin that later at the dock weighed 111 pounds collared and gutted.

A little later OL Brown socks drives steel into his first tuna , which took him around the boat a few times, and he put it on the deck like a pro. got a few quick pics and release to fight another day. a nice 54" bluefin.

Rich and I doubled up again I had an under which we kept for our second tuna on ice. Rich decking a 52" bluefin.
then followed it up with another 52" to put our total at 6 .With 4 being OVERS and 2 being UNDERS only keeping our legal limit

Bite was shut down quick by excessive boat traffic and guys trolling amongst each other .ending the bite pretty quick.

Heard alot of talk about guys only catching Unders, and looking for the RIGHT one.
While we had a great day putting the RIGHT ONES in the boat.

Thanks to Steve for the invite, and Rich for doing what he does best, Putting us on top of fish !!!!!!!

SHORT CITY FLUKE 7-27

With all the good fluking thats been going on guess someone has to have a Sh/t report.
Today was our day, headed out with my Buddy Eddie and his two boys to try and put some fish in the box for them to fill the freezer.
Made a bunch of stops all over the ruff stuff to find short after short fluke. Drifts were good, tide wasnt screaming. but didnt find a good body  of keepers.
Shorts outnumbered keepers by about 9-1. lots of 16-17 " fish .

Constant action all day , and alot of ball busting still made for a great trip.

Few nice sea bass added to the box, including a really nice knucklehead by Edward Jr.

LATE DAY FLUKING 7/21

Headed out with Scott for a few hours of fluke fishing last night. Headed out to a hard East wind, with a fast running tide. made for super tough drifting conditions , even with a HUGE drift sock out was pushing 2 knots, decided to just stay local for the few hours, making long drifts on various lumps.
had a bunch of shorts, but just two keepers which Scott had both of.

Wind dropped to south , and the drift went to 0 . so moved around looking for some current flow, at the start of the outgoing. but just found drop and reel sea robins for the rest of the night

AFTERNOON FLUKING 7/18

Headed out after work with Scott, Steve and Anthony  last night to do some fluking.
Wind against tide most of the night, and had to fish 8 OZ + with the sock out but still picked away at some decent fish.
Marinade infused GULP once again outfished the regular stuff , with 8 out the 10 keepers we had.
Shorts to keepers last night was prob 3-1 . Fun night , and with the south wind it was much cooler on the water than inland.

God proved he had a sense of humor last night with some funny sights in the clouds, through out the night. while the pic isnt quite what we saw I think you will get the picture LOL

Steve had the nicest fish at 7 pounds

NEW GULP MARINADE

Since I have gottin enough texts  to melt my phone here is the info:

The scent line is called MARINADE , it comes in Shrimp, minnow , and mullet, sardine, shad, salmon egg, garlic and I believe a few more .

Supposed to be available In October.

after using it the other day I think this is going to FLY off the shelves

It can be added directly to the Gulp bait, or added to the alive solution to brine over night.
We found the marinade toughened up the new gulp to be similar to the original formula, and it def drew more strikes while using it to fluke on Sunday

NEW GULP MARINADE

The new attractant in just being called MARINADE.
it can be added to the gulp juice or directly to the gulp bait.
it is coming out in a few different scents.

We found it also toughened up the gulp a little making it feel more like the origional stuff. A WIN WIN as long as it doesnt make it too tough over time

One of the new baits we were using was the squidly's, they held up good to the fluke, and we found they inhaled them deep on the initial strike, sea bass did do a number on the tentacles though when they were hitting it

GOOD FLUKING 7/14

Had Scott, Steve and David out today to do some fluking.
Got to try out some new GULP products that are supposed to be out the end of this year.
They def put a beating on the fluke . we tried to compare the Regular gulp VS the new stuff, and it didnt take long until all of us were just fishing the new stuff. We def had WAY more hits on the enhanced product.

Also got to try the New Revo Toro Nacl in a 50 series . Abu def has hit a home run with the improvements they have made to this reel . It is silky smooth . has a ton of torque, and was just a dream to fish with . Reel has NO PLAY what so ever in it. Had fluke to just under 7 pounds on it and it never took any extra effort working the fish to the boat.
Fished bucktails to 10 OZ with it most of the day , and have 0 fatigue .
Looks like I may replace my favorite Lexa's with them.

Ended the day with Scott, Steve and Myself each having a limit of fluke, and David did a number on the sea bass

Will add pics of the day when I get them from Steve, just had this one on my phone.

Another very nice day on the water

ICED TEA FLUKIN 7/7

Went out fluking with Steve yesterday. after seeing super clean water coming in from tuna fishing saturday night , had high expectations for a good day.
Left the dock to find ICED TEA colored water flowing in . could not believe how dark the water had gottin overnight.
Made our way East hoping to find some cleaner water, but it was nasty everywhere we went.

We had ling and weakfish and a few short fluke on the reef. Then made our way fishing alot of different lumps, that were carpeted with fluke. Only problem is they were all short fish 15- 17 inches .
had to catch well over a hundred fluke bucktailing in just over 4 hours. to find just 5 keepers.
The nicest one Steve had was 5# 1 oz on the dock.
fun day with all the non stop action, and def better than sitting inland during this heat wave.

NEW MEMBER OF THE 50 POUND+ STRIPED BASS RELEASE CLUB

Had Brad and his A team out last night. bait was very skittish and spread out until we saw a pod get hit. one throw of the net there and we had live wells full to the brim . NICE when the bait wont dive because of being chased from below.
Shucker put the first bass of the night in the box on a snag and drop bait a good eater at just 32 inches. a few more blue fish bite offs then all went quiet.

Made a bunch of moves fishing different lumps, when finally Brad gets a good run off. He sets the hook and his rod doubles over and the drag is SCREAMING , he looks at me and says this fish is going to spool me I cant stop him. Told him to bump up his drag slowly on his Talaca, and he justs looks at the line still flying off the reel.
Finally the fish swirls way off the boat and we see its a good one. few minutes later I tell him to put some as into it and get that little bass to the boat. He laughs as the bass once again makes a hard run. Finally as the bass comes boatside I can see its a REAL good one.
I slip the net under the fish up in the bow of the boat, telling him its a dink as he cant see it. He looks over the side and sees the bass barely fits in the net. And he helps me lift it over the side.
On the deck I know before it even hits the scale he has just caught a 50 plus pound bass.
it pulls down the Rapala Digital scale to 51 pounds 12 ounces.

Sorry for the crappy pictures, but as anyone who actually has had a LEGIT 50 they are very hard to handle and get a good pic as they just want to fall all over the place. And it was a struggle to even get these pics as he couldnt hold onto the bass

and Brads biggest concern was getting this beauty back into the water to swim another day.

After these quick few pics, we swam her along side the boat for a few minutes, until see ripped away from my hand , slapping me with that great broom tail as she swam away from the boat.
The next few minutes you would have thought he had just scored a touch down at the super bowl as he fist pumped and jumped around on the deck that he had just released a super bass.

CONGRATS BRAD ON GETTING IT DONE.
