INSANE BLUEFIN JIGGING 8-22

Jumped on with Capt Rich, his brother Ronnie and Matt yesterday to do some bluefin jigging. Left the inlet at o dark thirty, to find a very lumpy ocean. Rich decided to see if it would lay down a little and headed to some inshore pieces . we found alot of life with plenty of bait but couldnt get away from the BIG blue fish in the area, which were really tearing up the jigs. Decided the ocean looked good enough to move way off where Rcih had been beating on them earlier in the week. Took awhile in the nasty seas but once getting there we got into a couple of tuna with our over and under going in the box. Looked around for some better reads with Rich getting on some better marks, and the tuna deciding they wanted to chew before the aprroaching storm. for the next couple of hours we had 2-3-4 tuna on a time. The tuna were so aggressive that even jigs resting on the bottom while one of us worked a tuna boatside were crushed and a nother hook up started. Most of the tuna were 35-45 pounds , but we had three or four over fish (only keeping 1) with Riches pair of 54 inch being best boatside. at days end we had released well over forty bluefins. Even in the mad dog bite , stingo jigs were out producing everything else we dropped. Decided when some big sharks came in and started ripping the tuna up to make the run back through the storm , instead of watching released fish get smashed by the sharks. def a super fun day , that will be hard to match, but we sure will try !!!!!!!!!

Lackluster fishing

Had Jakes beard and his wife Ellie out today / Made the long run North to Fish the channels , figuring there would be some cleaner water. Fished the Ambrose for about 3 hours, nice easy drift, with out a hit in three areas that have been holding fluke. Moved off to try for some sea bass, hit three good spots working towards the NY bouy, nothing but shorts. Got to the NY and had the same, then had the screen lite up, Bluefish stacked up chasing bait, we each caught a big blue on a jig then went back to sea bassin. Workrd a few more pieces ending back at the Sea Girt reef, still nothing but shorts, so called it a day. ALOT of Bumpy miles today with Nothing to show for dinner but ICE sandwiches, MY teeth still hurt LOL

FLUKIN 8-8

Since weather was iffy for this afternoon Matt and I decided to forgo a tuna run, and go put some fluke fillets on ice. Made run way North looking for cooler water at the tide change. Found the fluke but they were def chewing funny. would slam a bait but then just mouth it, had to let them have it for at least a 10 count for them to commit to eating the bait.. Matt had a tough time letting the drop back for so long, and stung some nice fish, he ended up with 2 nice fish and lost a nice one trying to swing it after seeing me swing a bigger one, and he got to watch his swim away for another day LOL I boxed a limit of 6 really nice fish and we headed to the barn when the south wind came a honkin. All keepers came dragging bait today, bucktails produced a bunch of shorts.
