Bass and blacks 12-13

Decided on a late start to fish this morning , met Matt and Jimmy , leaving a little after 7.Bay and ocean flat as glass, made for a quick run outside at 40 knots.Caught a bunch of small bass on jigs and made our way towards the reef.By the timne we got there the weather had changed for the worst, with flat seas building quickly to 4-6 footers with some wicked rogue waves mixed in.Caught a couple tog and decided to play it safe and go back to jigging bass.Made the run north and caught a bunch more till the rain came around 11 and headed in.Hoped to get a few hours in toggin before I pull the boat, MAYBE next weekend ??????

Rainy day toggin 11-30

Had John and Elly out for Elly's birthday today to do some togging. Started where I left them chewing yesterday but couldnt even get a sniff, one fish about 5 pounds, made a bunch of moves and as soon as we got some toy tog to chew the dogfish would take over, didnt matter if was on top of the piece, behind the piece, they were relentless, Catch one and have 3 following it to the boat. Had to have 40 -50 again today. Decided we had enough when the heavy wind and rain came on. had 6 in the box for dinner with the Biggest going just under 8 pounds, Johns PB tog to date.

Blackfish limits + 11-29

Had Doug, Ed and Matt out today to blackfish. Looked to jig some stripers early but only had some blues and WAY too many dog fish hitting the jigs. Boxed the first 20 of our four man limit early, then the bite changed with the tide. Made a couple moves and finally got them going again finishing the four man limit and then playing catch and release for a couple hours after that with some nice fish going back. Biggest was Dougs beast at 9 lbs 4 oz Nice day for November. We also had to have over 60 dogfish while blackfishing today. They really need to do something with these things.

Black and blue toothache cure

Decided no sense in sitting home on a nice day with my toothache, headed down to meet Jimmy at the boat to do some blackfishing. Got to the reef around 1130 and it was PACKED . picked a spot away from the crowd , caught one keeper, then nothing, moved 4 times with the same results. add a keeper, couple shorts , but couldnt get a steady bite. we kept four keepers to just under 8 pounds. Heading home between the channels there was tons of bluefish smashing sand eels on top, we watched the sunset as we fought blue after blue on light tackle.

Stripers / Blackfish 11-18

Had Steve and his friend Mike out today for a blackfish / striper combo. Hit some jig bass on the way to the reef, couple of shorts and two keepers, made our way to the reef and it looked like it was going to be pretty nasty for the guys to learn to blackfish. But since we were there I said lets give it a try. Didnt take long to see they wanted to REALLY chew today. Had two Blackfishing newbies looking like pros by days end. Mike caught on REAL quick and had his limit in a little over an hour. Steve made it up at the end. Limited out and headed to the barn, Mostly quality fish today, with one VERY big one getting bounced off coming over the side. Guess I should have told them we dont swing fish over 10 pounds. Figured the fish to be in the 11-12 pound range OOOPPPS Cant wait to see how great the bite can be once the EVIL ocean lays down .

We used the new Daiwa reels today, and they def are sweet.

BoaT rods have the Saltist 30 lw on them, I was fishing the new 30 ld, lots of power on a super sweet drag.

Had Blackfish Doug, His friend Joe, and Matt out for a fish with the Captain striper trip.Headed out in the dark, and was outside for pink light.Birds already started working.Had the first 1 mile drift all to ourselves, catching a mix of stripers and BIG bluefish. Most of the Cookie cutter stripers were 26-27 3/4 "Nice fat healthy young bass.Doug boxed a 32" bass, and (Slippery fingers) Matt dropped Dougs second nice keeper bringing him over the rail.We threw back a couple 28 1/2 inch fish amongt a ton of giant Bluefish, figuring it was EARLYMoved in to clam at 830 (bad move) as we went biteless for 2 hours, made a move South to clam again, I caught a 30" fish we boxed, and then not another bite for an hour.Went back out to the jig fish and it was ALL bass, for as far as you could see.Tons of boat traffic wouldnt even put them down, They were tough to get to chew except for 007 Ava's.caught a couple more and headed in with the bass still swirling on top, as there were Family obligations to tend to.Nice day again for November.

BACK IN THE WATER !!!!!!!!!!!

Teleflex customer service came through and overnighted a new helm last week.
Campisano Marine had it up and ready Monday, and I put her back in the water today !!!!!!!!
Felt good to have water under my feet again.

Looking forward to hitting some stripers for the next couple of weeks , along with some searching for some new blackfish Honey holes.

Going to try something new on the days we aren't chartered.

Instead of running open boat I am going to run Fish with the Captain trips.
Trips will be $100 per man for the day (a long day) and need just 2 to go out.
I like fishing as much as I can so it will fun for everybody.
Im going to start an email list for guys looking to jump on these trips, and they will be on a first come basis.

Come on out and make some REELMUSIC

Bluefin beatdown

Headed out yesterday to do some inshore Bluefin fishing yesterday with Rich,Jerry, and John yesterday.
easy ride out on the Cat, and we were into tuna within an hour.
First tuna was hooked by Jerry, but he wouldnt come off the bottom and popped off.
Next one came on a bait rod, which we boxed as our under fish.
Moved around and had a couple more weird take offs but took another hour or two and we started marking ALOT more tuna,
just not actively feeding.
We boated 4 at our first spot, then got a call over the radio that a Friend of ours Capt Joe buddy ws into them a couple miles from where we were.
we made the move, seeing them boat a tuna as we got there.
fish were high in the water there and made for marking them a little tougher, but once found we got into some more. we had three boatside breakoffs, but boated another 4 there.
Awesome day on the water with a great crew of guys.
We are looking to run some fall trips for these bluefin, ride is nice and short and the action is intense.
Give me a call and get out there while its HOT
Capt. Dan
