BIG BLUEFINS with OL BROWN socks 7-30

Got Invited by my Buddy Steve to jump on a charter he had Booked with Capt Rich for bluefin yesterday.
Steve was wearing his traditional BROWN socks, he wears for good luck, He says its just like stepping in Sh/t. And after all the good trips we have shared I think he is on to something.
Left the dock at ODARK thirty, and was settled in where Rich had wanted to be as the pink light hit.
Super life around, a few wiggles to get over better marks and Rich asks do we want to troll or jig. JIG for sure was the answer and we dropped in .
Was only a few minutes and I was tight on a good one, and Rich was into an under.
After fighting the tuna for a bit I knew it was a good one and asked for a Hookie, so I could push the tuna a bit. Bumped up the drag bringing it to the boat fairly quick. A nice 65" inch blue fin that later at the dock weighed 111 pounds collared and gutted.

A little later OL Brown socks drives steel into his first tuna , which took him around the boat a few times, and he put it on the deck like a pro. got a few quick pics and release to fight another day. a nice 54" bluefin.

Rich and I doubled up again I had an under which we kept for our second tuna on ice. Rich decking a 52" bluefin.
then followed it up with another 52" to put our total at 6 .With 4 being OVERS and 2 being UNDERS only keeping our legal limit

Bite was shut down quick by excessive boat traffic and guys trolling amongst each other .ending the bite pretty quick.

Heard alot of talk about guys only catching Unders, and looking for the RIGHT one.
While we had a great day putting the RIGHT ONES in the boat.

Thanks to Steve for the invite, and Rich for doing what he does best, Putting us on top of fish !!!!!!!

SHORT CITY FLUKE 7-27

With all the good fluking thats been going on guess someone has to have a Sh/t report.
Today was our day, headed out with my Buddy Eddie and his two boys to try and put some fish in the box for them to fill the freezer.
Made a bunch of stops all over the ruff stuff to find short after short fluke. Drifts were good, tide wasnt screaming. but didnt find a good body  of keepers.
Shorts outnumbered keepers by about 9-1. lots of 16-17 " fish .

Constant action all day , and alot of ball busting still made for a great trip.

Few nice sea bass added to the box, including a really nice knucklehead by Edward Jr.

LATE DAY FLUKING 7/21

Headed out with Scott for a few hours of fluke fishing last night. Headed out to a hard East wind, with a fast running tide. made for super tough drifting conditions , even with a HUGE drift sock out was pushing 2 knots, decided to just stay local for the few hours, making long drifts on various lumps.
had a bunch of shorts, but just two keepers which Scott had both of.

Wind dropped to south , and the drift went to 0 . so moved around looking for some current flow, at the start of the outgoing. but just found drop and reel sea robins for the rest of the night

AFTERNOON FLUKING 7/18

Headed out after work with Scott, Steve and Anthony  last night to do some fluking.
Wind against tide most of the night, and had to fish 8 OZ + with the sock out but still picked away at some decent fish.
Marinade infused GULP once again outfished the regular stuff , with 8 out the 10 keepers we had.
Shorts to keepers last night was prob 3-1 . Fun night , and with the south wind it was much cooler on the water than inland.

God proved he had a sense of humor last night with some funny sights in the clouds, through out the night. while the pic isnt quite what we saw I think you will get the picture LOL

Steve had the nicest fish at 7 pounds

NEW GULP MARINADE

Since I have gottin enough texts  to melt my phone here is the info:

The scent line is called MARINADE , it comes in Shrimp, minnow , and mullet, sardine, shad, salmon egg, garlic and I believe a few more .

Supposed to be available In October.

after using it the other day I think this is going to FLY off the shelves

It can be added directly to the Gulp bait, or added to the alive solution to brine over night.
We found the marinade toughened up the new gulp to be similar to the original formula, and it def drew more strikes while using it to fluke on Sunday

NEW GULP MARINADE

The new attractant in just being called MARINADE.
it can be added to the gulp juice or directly to the gulp bait.
it is coming out in a few different scents.

We found it also toughened up the gulp a little making it feel more like the origional stuff. A WIN WIN as long as it doesnt make it too tough over time

One of the new baits we were using was the squidly's, they held up good to the fluke, and we found they inhaled them deep on the initial strike, sea bass did do a number on the tentacles though when they were hitting it

GOOD FLUKING 7/14

Had Scott, Steve and David out today to do some fluking.
Got to try out some new GULP products that are supposed to be out the end of this year.
They def put a beating on the fluke . we tried to compare the Regular gulp VS the new stuff, and it didnt take long until all of us were just fishing the new stuff. We def had WAY more hits on the enhanced product.

Also got to try the New Revo Toro Nacl in a 50 series . Abu def has hit a home run with the improvements they have made to this reel . It is silky smooth . has a ton of torque, and was just a dream to fish with . Reel has NO PLAY what so ever in it. Had fluke to just under 7 pounds on it and it never took any extra effort working the fish to the boat.
Fished bucktails to 10 OZ with it most of the day , and have 0 fatigue .
Looks like I may replace my favorite Lexa's with them.

Ended the day with Scott, Steve and Myself each having a limit of fluke, and David did a number on the sea bass

Will add pics of the day when I get them from Steve, just had this one on my phone.

Another very nice day on the water

ICED TEA FLUKIN 7/7

Went out fluking with Steve yesterday. after seeing super clean water coming in from tuna fishing saturday night , had high expectations for a good day.
Left the dock to find ICED TEA colored water flowing in . could not believe how dark the water had gottin overnight.
Made our way East hoping to find some cleaner water, but it was nasty everywhere we went.

We had ling and weakfish and a few short fluke on the reef. Then made our way fishing alot of different lumps, that were carpeted with fluke. Only problem is they were all short fish 15- 17 inches .
had to catch well over a hundred fluke bucktailing in just over 4 hours. to find just 5 keepers.
The nicest one Steve had was 5# 1 oz on the dock.
fun day with all the non stop action, and def better than sitting inland during this heat wave.
