ANOTHER GREAT NIGHT OF BASSING 5/30

Had Steve, his son Dave who also brought his friend Isaac on his first ever striper trip , and what a trip it was. He got to see bass blowing bunker three feet out of the water and also had the biggest bass of the night right at 40 pounds . Dave had the first limit in the boat , but high hook last night went to Steve who was def on a tear.
wish they were all like this trip . got to fish way off the fleet and fight fish alone for most of the night

only 2 fish kept , all rest released

Bass blues and fluke 5/27

Another slow day on the water for us . Had My buddy Ed , and his 2 sons out this morning, wanted to try and get Austin and Edward Jr on some striped bass, but after working alot of bait pods, and the rocks without a sniff desided to switch gears and hit the sea girt reef for some fluke and see bass. Had about as perfect a drift as possible there, yet only produced one keeper fluke and a bunch of short sea bass/

Afternoon trip I had Lou, Ryan , Brian , and Carolyn out. headed north looking for all the bait pods that had been there, not seeing much bait until the rocks . baits were getting sprayed pretty hard , but it was all BIG bluefish . One of those Blues actually beat the PANTS off Brian NOT A PRETTY SIGHT [rofl]

Got a call from Capt Joe, that a very good bite had started down south . because of the lack of bait now north and with flat seas I made the long run south HOPING the bite would last, made the run really pushing it until the wind changed hard and the last 3 miles I had to really slow down on quickly building seas. Bunker schools were pushing south very quickly , the first one we got on Ryan boated a slob. but the bite had shut down with the wind, and while we worked many pods couldnt get another bite.

MEMORIAL DAY BASSING 5/28

Had Lance , Tbone, and Duke out tonight for Lance's birthday trip . def must have been some fisherman shining down from above today , as this memorial day was def blessed with super weather and flat seas.
made our way to where we had fish last night , took a little while for the guys to get used to snag and drop fishing , and how to keep pressure on the bait to get a strike and to keep the bass hooked by not pumping the rod , and they ended up catching some really nice bass to Dukes 44 pounder.
The girth on that bass was bigger than any bass I have seen over 50 pounds, but it was short and all shoulders ,  looked more like a hybrid than a striper.

Thanks to all those serving and those who have given their lives, to allow us to enjoy days like today in peace and safty

Heart breaker 5/26

Has Jim , his sons Kain  and Kellen , and Nephew Isaiah out tonight . made bait easy north of the inlet with the new net. Made our way north stopping at a bunch of spots. worked the bunker pods all night trying to find a willing bass , only to get less than 6 bites all night , Boys fished hard , staying at the rail all night  till well past quiting time wating for a good run off.
Hope to get them back out once their school ends for the year . Hate not having a good day on the water with anyone. But breaks my heart when kids willing to fish hard dont get the bites to have a fun trip

MURPHY BASSING

Had Brad , Dale ,Barry and Tom out tonight for some bassing. came out the inlet as Bowguide floated a netfull of bunker. filled the wells and off to the north we went. that was about if for the good of the night as EVERYTHING else that could go wrong did. Fog came in hard after only moving 2 miles up the beach . Then the first three rigs Brad had tied for his friends popped on bass. Finally Dale sinks his hook into as bass , and we get it in the boat. Only now we get covered up with big bluefish , quickly going through alot of bait. So I jump up on the bow t throw the net and whatever has been ailing my knee, pops and sends me to the deck . I stand up and throw the net to watch it imeadiatly start to swim away, full of bunker PLUS 15 GIANT bluefish , which just blow big holes in my Percy net. Finally the fog lifts and we can see big schools of bunker , and im told bass are on them . But Tom lands 2 for his limit, followed by Barry bringing one boatside I hooked for  him.  Brad ( NAh we will leave that for another day LOL)

so the guys box four bass and a bunch of big blues while missing a bunch more good hits.

Best one was DALE  leaving 1 really run for A LONG TIME, only to say " It didnt have it long enough AFTER the bass puts him on the deck face first on the hookset, looking like he was going to make a shark barrel float out of him LOL

was tough nite , but the ball busting made it a good one

.

FOGGY STRIPERS 5/23

Had Craig . Colt and Ryan out tonight for bass. Made bait easily just outside our inlet and pushed off towards where we ended last night. BY the time we reached there the fog was coming in hard. Found some big pods of bunker and had to keep moving on them as they were moving fast and very skittish . guys missed a few , but came tight on enough to box thier limit. The last three on at the same time , made for a quick ending.

Thanks again to Bowguide for helping out

BIG GIRLS IN THE FOG 5/24

Had Steve out for the afternoon . Made our way back to where we had them in the AM , with Steve putting two nice Eating bass in the box before Scott or I had a bass bite. we were getting hammered by GIANT bluefish. started to get a decent bass bite going mixed with the big blues. Talked to Capt Rich as it started to slow down , and he said he would make a run east to check a spot we like to fish in the sloppy seas. ten minutes later I get FIND ME .
I knew where I had to get to and with darkness and soupy fog I pushed it with the only thing staying in the water was the prop. Saw some surface activity about a 1/4 mile from him and as we threw our baits the seas exploded with BIG bass blowing bunker all over . Scott got his first look at what kind of craziness our ocean bite can look like. bass rolling all over each other on the feed HARD.
bunker didnt last long as each bait was crushed. just had to keep looking for the fast moving pods. If you marked fish the chewed everything that hit the water.

Scott had the biggest of the night at 45 and change.

All bass except for 2 were released to fight another day.
Finished the night with some super subs Steve had brought for dinner

FOGGY MORNING BLAST 5/24

Had Frank ,Dave , Marty, and Rich out for bass. Left in about a mile vis in the fog making bait and headed north to where the chew has been good this week.
Seas were a little angry and fog thick by the time we got up there. Frank was the first to box a bass, then after a few misses and lost fish the blues started to take over BIG bluefish on the tear. seeing marks stacking up at slack tide I knew it was going to get good when the tide changed. and its did , but guys were a little under the weather with two adding to the chum stain , but roughed it out at the rail all day. Marty swung missing a few in a row, with the line of the day " Dude your a cop STRAP YOUR BALLS ON " He took it in stride and SLAMMED the hook the next two bass for a limit. But Dave wasnt to be outdone and boated our nicest bass of the AM . out of over 60 bunker we got a few pieces from Capt Fred to do one last drift for Rich who w

as now feeling better a bass, but a few more mosses and we were off to the barn.

FUN group of guys with non stop ball busting

NICE BASS 5/22

Had Hunter, his father , Ricci and Barney out tonight. weather forcast looked grim for tonights trip but in usual NOAA form it was way off and was a very nice night on the water. Just a little bit of a heave.
got some bait just north of our inlet, then stopped a little further up , setting up bowguide to throw the net. knew we were in trouble when up it floated. we left about half the net out before trying to pull it over the gunwales. put 25 in a basket , and 25 in each of the wells before throwing another hundred back in the drink.
we found lots of bait , but very few marks on it. Finally Hunters dad got hit and boated a nice bass. as it came boatside we heard Ricci holler he had one on too .

got calls from Capt Rich and Capt Jerry if I didnt have much going on fish were starting to stack up back where we had made a bait a little deeper, so we headed there and just couldnt get a bite/ moved off the schools and picked up another nice bass for Ricci's limit.
made a bunch of moves and hit alot of structure not getting another chance at the bass. Guess tonight was our night to be the BUG

Blustery bassin 5/20 afternoon

Afternon trip had out Ryan , his father Bob,Charles and Dan.
weather had seemed to calm down, and not match the forcast, and with the slow morning bite despites miles of bait I knew if it was still fishable we were going to have a good night.
Made our way out the ruff inlet to find even more bunker than we had left an hour before.
added a net full of fresh bait and saw bass spraying while doing so. so dropped in the baits and it was game on.
had a few bluefish bites but was mostly bass on the chew. while we caught a bunch , seemed like because there was so much baiit the hook baits had to be super skittish to draw a strike.
guys boxed what they wanted and went into C/R mode and I even got to hook a few on a pencil popper.
as sea built to the orig forcast as the winds changed to the east we made the 1/2 mile run back to the inlet instead of pushing against mother nature. wish they were all this easy.

another BB trip with great action

Blustery bassin 5/20 am trip

Had the RUNUM N GUNUM trip out Sunday morning. was bait for miles.alot of it had bluefish on it but we were able to find a bunch that had cruising bass on them too. Bites were spread out making it tough to be ready at all times and the bass made the better of us, But another trip that alot of hunting and fishing stories were told. filling in the day . with some nice bass making thier way into he boat, along with a bunch of blues. heading back to the inlet even more bait was along the beach front. at one point thier had to be 8 miles of bunker

Thanks Ed for helping out on the trips

Broke a striper cherry on this trip , even pulling his limit

Saturday 5/19 afternoon stripers

Afternoon trip was the Tim Walsh party, and wow did they party.
Had alot of bite putting some nice bass in the box, but funniest part was as the night when on , if they missed a fish they bit a bunkers head off. Talk about LMAO . guys had ALOT of fun . Those kinds of nights you just cant make up

Big thanks to Bowguide for helping out on the trip

Saturday 5/19 sea bass

Saturday Am had Pete and his wedding party out to fluke fish . Pete and the guys wanted to finish out his Bachelor party on the boat just doing some easy fishing. Wicked winds and dirty water made fluking pretty much a no go . But elected to just drift the reef for some sea bass. picked away at a bunch of shorts but enough keepers for them to have a sea bass lunch before Pete Tyed the knot Saturday night. was fun with all the ball busting going on. and the guys being a little under the weather fom the night before , added to who who would green first. Was cool seeing Pete hook up the first good knuckle of the trip, and still be excited he was marrying a great girl . looking forward to doing a good sea bass trip when they get back .

Bigger bass 5/17

Had Mike, Mike , Mark and Adam out tonight for bass. made some bait just south of our inlet but heard was a bigger concentration way south , so decided to make the run way south hoping for some bigger bass . Got to where some friends had done earlier to find most of the bait deep and really spread out. Found one pod balled up and it was game on with BIG bass. Had them to ourselves for a bit till a fleet started to build , most guys respecting the boats around them. pod was small and got to the point it got pretty tight yet 2 boats had to keep running right between everyone , one of them running over our lines while fighting 2 fish . But as luck would have it these bass just kept chewing and we had a good steady bite for a few hours.
guys kept 5 for the table , releasing the rest. with alot of the fish being caught over 30 pounds. looks like the better fish are making their showing right on time.
