Blues were Big, BASS WERE BIGGER

Had Big Steve out solo today to do some jigging, first stop under working birds was Big sea bass, small blues and spike weakfish.
Made a move North and got into giant blues with enough BIG bass mixed in to make it even more fun. Birds started spreading out for a few miles allowing us to get away from the few other boats out there and really enjoy the blustery day fighting fish after fish.ALL fish def fought better in the much cooler water.
All fish released to fight another day.

lots of bait making the move south, this jig bite is going to get better everyday. Watch for open boat trips !!!!!!!!!

STRIPERS 10-11

Had Brad, Shucker , And Dale out for a day of mixed bag fishing today. Started off with a decent striper bite on jigs, with Shucker catching his first striper including a limit. Went looking for sea bass, finding some nice fish , but mostly shorts, but the slab porgy bite was super with the guys filling a 120 qt cooler with them great day on the water.

Bluefish bailout

Had Derek, his brother Adam, son Chris and their neighbor Marios out today. When booking the trip we decided sea bass would probably be the most consistant game plan.
WOW were we wrong !!!
Came out of the inlet to see giant flocks of birds crashing the water 3-4 miles off. Made the run out to see Big gator blues feeding for MILES like they were in a hatchery.Guys caught a bunch for the first couple hours, keeping 3 to try smoking them.
Off to the AC to sea bass, made a bunch of drops to find one or two fish on a pile with just a few shorts. worked a bunch of different depths till finding a few more keepers, but fishing was far from stellar, with shorts well out numbering the keepers.
Chris def stole the show today, def catching enough of the keepers for a decisive win LOL

New DAIWA Jigging rods

Recieved 1 of the new Saltist series Jiggin rods today from Daiwa. Model STJ59XHF. Cant wait for mother nature to open a window so I can get out and jig some Bluefin with it !!!!!!!!!!!!
Daiwa hads come out with three new series of rods for jigging tuna. This one of the saltist series has a little bigger handle than the origional Saltiga series, with alot of backbone. And has a gimble for using a rod Huki, for fighting bigger tuna.
Looks to be a great rod for the budget minded fisherman , as well as guys who really put their tackle to a test.
