striped bass 5/29

Had Craig, Colt, Brett and Brian out today to do some live lining for striped bass.

Day started off slow due to heavy fog, but made bait quick and headed north.Had a bunch of misses due to the guys being new to live lining, but they stuck with it and put some nice bass in the boat before the bluefish took over.

bass crush 5/21

Craig and I jumped on for the am trip on Captain Rich's new sled, to fish with him and Mark from Maine. Got some bait pretty quick but knowing we were headsed back to where we had crushed them the day before we wanted more. Rich saw the FF light up running down the beach, bait was deep but we were able to snag a bunch and headed North. Morning bite was just sick as we watched bass after bass crush the baits at boatside, many times 3-4 bass fighting over the bunker. Smaller fish had a tough time getting the big horse bunker down made for quite the show. in the afternoon Craig and I jumped back on my boat heading south to where it seemed the big fish have wanted to stay the last few days, had a quick flurry with nothing coming tight. we were looking to get craig a 40 plus pound fish this trip. Made the run back north to the bait piles we had made bait on and found some REALLY big fish mixed in. Craig got to see what a 40 plus looks like , when he netted our biggest of the night at 46 pounds on the boga

Bass Crush for the OHIO boy

Had my buddy Craig come in from Ohio to try for some stripers. great morning bite on livies, got him def HOOKED on bassing here . Came in and got lunch to relax a bit.Headed back out for the afternoon with Jimmy also jumping on board. Ran way south trying to find the bait pods that had been so esy in the am. with very few to show for the run. decided to use the few we had and a bunch of dead ones we had in the splashwell and made our way north to where we had beat on the bass in the am. as soon as we started Jimmy hooked up his first bass of the year. Craig and I had a few come unbuttoned, and started to slam big bluefish. Jimmy picked another bass amongst the bluefish frenzy . Drug bunker spoons for about an hour after running out of bait, with two knock downs that didnt come tight . with fog settling in we headed back to the barn.

Hunt Pa trip

Had three boats full of a 16 angler group from the hunting Pa site.

Capt Rich, Capt Joe, and myself ran north to find working birds and got into some jig fish.

The seas got ugly real quick making a few angler pretty green, only to get worse when we had a dense blanket of fog come in.

But at least a few guys broke their striper cherries fishing in the salt for the first time.

GREAT bunch of guys who really handled a not so nice day and still turned it into a very fun trip

NJ Hunter Tourney 5-14

Had Rich , John and Matt out for the NJ hunter tourney.
Got a late start as Someone was late, and we missed the early morning bite.
Ended up trolling a few spots and while bumping up the boat to move to a new spot, a rod doubles over.
being we had bumped up the boat to 8 knots we figured it was a bluefish, but while fighting it John decided it was only a bag.
well the bag turned out to be a 30+ pound striper, that surfaced right next to the motor.
As it slid up boatside The leader was nicked on the trim tab and the bass swam away, once again holing to the NJ Tourney curse of having the right fish, with the wrong results.

still a very fun day with alot of serious ball busting on board

DEEP WATER JIGGING

Headed down to see our buddy John (Procrastinator ), with his brother Jimmy, John, and Rich , for a fun captains trips to target some deep water jig fish.Weather man was WAY off with the forcasted 2-3 foot swells with a 10 knot wind.50 miles out it was blowing a solid 25 with solid stacked 5-6 footers with an occasional 8 thrown in.Made for way less than perfect conditions as we were flying trying to deep drift bucktails and jigs for grouper, amberjacks, and trigger fish.Between the 5 knot current and the wind it took alot of lead to even bounce the jig on the bottom for twenty to thirty foot.Got to try my new Daiwa Saltist series jigging rod matched with a Daiwa Saltist LD 40, made for easy pulling these fish up off the bottomFighting these fish from 200 foot plus on our jigging equipment was def a blast, and has me wanting to get back down there on a more favorable day.quick report with more pics to be added as many dif cameras were used, and im beat after driving through the night to get home.John worked super hard to get us on productive pieces and was able to get us into some nice fish.A bunch were dropped halfway up as they were getting drug like kites from the fast drift.Had one big red grouper almost to the boat to have a BIG shark take one bite . losing half the fish in the blink of an eye.
