"SILLY " bassing 5-16

Matt and I headed out tonight with John and Mike on board to try and liveline some stripers. Made bait and headed south on some intel there was a sporatic bite down south. Got away and stayed away from 2 fleets in the area, and POUNDED the bass on Livies and jigs. Bass only wanted super fresh livies, and at times there was 6 bass just pushing the slower moving bunker on top till one ate it. John is a jigging machine and caught most of his fish jigging , along with a bunch on livies, Made a long run North to end the evening and had another incredible , using even all the dead baits along with jigging a bunch more. Tonights action after last nights tough bite for us felt GOOD. Highlight of the night was me catching a bass on a BARE hook while undoing a birds nest, Bass came within 3 feet of the boat and CRUSHED the hook. Talk about SILLY bassing

ALL BASS RELEASED TO PLAY ANOTHER DAY !!!!!

Reality trip 5-15

Headed out for a short afternoon trip with Steve and his two Nephews who had never fished in the ocean before. Had High expectacions for a good trip with all the crazy bass bite going on. But it didnt happen for us tonight, had a couple of bluefish up north, and even though we marked alot of fish south they wouldnt chew, did my least favorite method of bassing and put out the trolling rods, quickly hooking 1 bass that spit the hook at boatside, as I got ready to land it. super nice out there tonight, def had expected better, but cant make them chew when they dont want to. after seeing the morning reports, looks like they chewed their heads in the AM

BIG bass 5-13

Headed out with John, Gus , Mario, and Matt for a magic hours trip tonight. Saw the fleet North of the inlet but decided to try and stay away and find another body of fish instead of fishing in a crowd. Found some decent marks a few miles north, and had 5 on at a time the first drift. The screen just keep lighting up, we pounded Big bass on jigs for the next 2 hours. All released except 1 kept for the table. Super nice fish tonight.

Striper hatchery 5-10

Met Capt Rich to tie up the boat in the new slip, after wrestling the lines in the wind and getting the boat set we headed out to do some striper fishing. Got some intel there was bait north of the inlet, so headed north marking some bait but not what we were looking for. Decided to go look for some jig fish, working north we could see birds gathering from a long ways off. Made the move and ended up in the middle of acres and acres of bass rolling on the top . Rich took some video we hope comes out because the sheer numbers of bass coming boatside chasing jigs was unreal, really like fishing in a hatchery. we pounded bass on sting o's and storm shads moving around to stay ahead of the school for a couple hours before heading back in. Had one of the "Big" boats known for trolling come so close that his stretch 25 snaged my line while I was fighting a bass , slide down the line and foul hook the bass in the belly.. Glad he heard me whistle and had his fare stop reeling so I didnt get my hand ripped off as I tried removing the hook.
super night on the water doing what we do best Hammer the bass.
ALL BASS RELEASED TO FIGHT ANOTHER DAY.

Bass Blues 5-08

Had JB , Rch and Matt On board for the striperthon. Wind was blowing 25 + as we left the inlet at 530. Told the guys with the expected forcast we would prob only get to fish till 8-9, found bait deep outside the inlet, had to snag them as netting them just wasnt happening. Saw some great marks so handed Jb a rod with a livie on it. Bass screamed away with it as it hit the water, didnt have drag tight enough and the bass spun the drag on the set , pulling the bunker away. made a run north if the inlet not finding any marks for couple hours. bass had moved deep with the falling temps. Weather got a lull in it and winds backed off around 930 and it got REAL nice out there. Tried chunking at the rocks and didnt have enough of a breeze to set on the anchor well. pulled the hook and headed East Finally got a shot at the bass just inside the 3 mile line around 10. they hit the last of the freshest livies , had a couple misses and the big blues took over, destrouying everty bait hitting the water. Tried trolling but was just more jumbo blues. around 11 the wind started honking again and the seas built quick, so decided we should head back as it was going to be a nasty ride. Made one more stop on great marks where we tried jigging some bass, and had a trolling rod go in the drink as I lifted another rod out of the rocket launchers, JB made a valient effort to try and grab and then hook the rod , doing all but jumping in after it, but couldnt get a grab on it. Took an hour to get back in running head on into swells building to over 5'. By the time we docked it was blowing 40+.

got a call an hour later that my boat was against the bulkhead. It had pulled the boards right off the dock with the cleats still attached to the dock lines. Luckily another boats owner had the same thing happen a few minutes before and saw my boat swing free, and put some anchor balls between it and the dock tying ot off till I got there. Capt Rich , and Capt Joe beat me to the boat, assuring me I could slow down on the way to the boat. Took 3 guys to get the nose into the now even stronger wind, and I shot out the slip to safety. Cant thank all those guys enough for helping me out !!!!!!!!!!!!!.

No bass for us today oceanside, but we def had fun busting chops, telling stories, and stretching some lines on big blues.

Bunker bassin

Matt met me tonight to drop the boat into its new slip for the season. Told him to bring some rods and we would fish for a little while. Made bait quick south if the inlet on big schools of bunker. Did a few drifts in the pods but there wasnt anything on them. Made a move out to some lumps hoping to find the bass on structure, and it was game on. Great bassing with no one around. Used all but 5 baits, watching every bait we pitched in to get creamed on top by hungry bass. They def wanted the liveliest baits tonight , hitting them quick, but playing with the injured baits for awhile before eating them. All bass released except Matt's last one as it was hooked deep and bleeding pretty bad, rest are there to fight another day. South wind def has the south swells kicking up tonight

Stripers 5-02 Easy limits

With the boat still in the shop, jumped on the Big Cat with Capt Rich, looking to put Vic , Tom , and Dennis on some stripers. Easy limits the first drift, with Dennis breaking his striper cherry !!. Had between 20 -25 bass, keeping 4 for the table. Back in the barn before the south wind came on strong. STINGO'S and Shads were preferred jigs today.
