Decided it was time to pull the boat today. After jockeying trailers at the marina and getting the truck loaded up.
Tracey and I headed out for a few hours of blackfishing.
Got anchored up at 1130 and by 130 we had a limit in the box.
The best of was Tracey's PB at 9 Pounds 4 OZ .
Bite was steady but they def were not committing to tugging at the bait.
Instead you would just feel them pick the bait up , and them feel them chewing the crab softly. a quick lift and it was game on
Shorts outnumbered keepers by about 2-1.
Nice to have some steady action before putting the boat away for its short winter nap.
Had a surveyor from NMFS stop us at the dock, where he weighed and measured all of the fish.

BUMMER Blackfish 11/23
Headed out to blackfish with Tracey, Eddie and his boys today.
big SE heave seemed to really put a damper on the bite.
Hit 6 spots that all had life on them , lots of shorts, few keepers, and TONS of dogfish.
Tracey had the first keeper, Austin the biggest tog, and ED and ED Jr were about tied for KING of the Dogfish
water temps were down to 51 a drastic jump from last weekend.
wish the weekend weather would give me a break every now and then. The should have been here yesterday is starting to get old QUICK.

C/R Tog with a side of Biscuits
Headed out with Tracey, Scott, and Jacob to do some toggin today. hoping to see Jacob get his first tog.
Also took a few quarts of clams to grab a few biscuits while we were there.
Fishing was a steady bite for most of the day.
Everyone caught their tog limit. and a few throw backs , and we had a fish basket full of sea bass, along with one lone porgy.
nice day on the water.
was shocked to see more boats out today than I had all summer.

TOG LIMIT 10/12/14
Not that it means much as the limit of tog right now is only 1 fish per angler .
headed out to run the boat a bit today , deciding to do some togging if we could find some fish that wanted to chew.
Was a slow pick through the whole tide, but never a good bite EXCEPT for all the BIG sea bass we had to throw back as that season is closed until the 18th.
We each kept our 1 fish limit of blackfish, the nicest one going 6 1/2 pounds.
also got into a bluefish blitz on the ride home, but they were small only being about 15".
sea were ugly and nothing like the NOAA forcast when we headed out but really layed down nice after noon , so made for a pleasant ride home.
cant wait till all the normal fall fishing seasons open .

A DAY ON THE SWEETWATER TROUT FISHING
Got an invite from Steve to fish the Upper Delaware on a float trip with Capt Mike of Sweetwater Guide service.
Made our way far north to start the day.
Scenary was awesome, can only get better the next few weeks, as the fall colors come in.
Fishing was pretty steady for both wild Rainbows, and browns with most of the fish being in the 18-20 inch range.
super fights on light tackle, with alot of aerial leaps as the wild trout put up quite a show.
Had some walleye as well as smallmouth to fill in during the time between riffs.
Def a fun day in a very quite relaxing spot

BITTERSWEET FLUKING 9/5
After having the worst week of my life, losing my mother on Wednesday.
Making funeral arrangements yesterday, I had to get out of my house today.
As many peoples mothers are, mine was always there for me in every way. She helped me realize a dream of owning a boat I could comfortably fish a little harder than my old 19', when I purchased my Sea Pro 238., seemed most times she called the conversation started with her asking if I was fishing, or heading to the boat. It brought her ALOT of joy knowing I really enjoyed owning and fishing this boat as much as possible.
So today I headed out with Tracey and Steve to spend a day out on the boat.
We ran north to the ruff stuff finding no drift at all, so kept going north to the channels.
But the water there was dirty and the drift very fast in both the SH and the Ambrose channels. so afer an hour or so and only one keeper in the box we headed back to the ruff stuff.
The drift was better, even getting a little too fast when the tide and wind were together, but using an 8' drift sock we managed to put together a limit catch of really nice fluke.
We had 8 fish over 5 pounds, four of those over six, the biggest going 7#1 oz.
Steve had the hot hand and was the first to limit. Then I finished mine catching the 3 big fish on three consecutive drifts.
Was another great day on the water, but I had tears in my eyes driving home through the now sloppy south wind chop.
I can only hope that while I cant tell my mom about another great day I had , that she had seen it from above
I know she will always be there in my heart, until the day we meet again

Fluking in the Nursery
saw a slight window to get out today before the south winds came a honkin.
So headed out to fluke a few hours with Tracey.
water was SUPER clean today. But still had a def SE heave to it.
with the expected 20 knot S winds decided to only go as far as the Rattle snake, so the ride home wouldnt be too bad.
Was DROP & REEL fluking there today, fluke were super aggressive but for the most part it was 17 - 17 1/2" fish .
keeper ratio was about 25-1.
Most of the time we both were fighting fish at the same time, sometimes even two at a time on the same line

BIG DOG FLUKE TOURNEY
Headed out on Scott's boat to fish the last tourney of the year. Started in the channels where we found alot of action . But was cookie cutter 17 1//2" fish.
So moved to some lumps in the ruff stuff where we found better fish just not alot of them.
we ended the day with 12 keepers to 7#14 OZ , not big enough for the Calcutta, and just over 16 pounds for our 3 fish taking 3rd place.
Congrats to the winners with a 8.7 pound fish and over 18 pounds.
was a fun picnic afterwards , and a great end to the 2014 Fluke season tourneys.
Already cant wait for the 2015 season hopefully kicking it up a notch !!!!

DIRTY WATER FLUKING
Headed out with Eddie and Austin this afternoon to try and do some fluke fishing.
Found the water very stained, but using marinade we were still able to scratch out a 3 man limit in the dirty water.
Biggest fluke going just over 8 pounds.
super nice afternoon , and a sweet ride home at sunset on nice flat seas.

FSOS FLUKE TOURNEY
Headed out this morning with Scott, Eddie, and Steve , and (Anthony in spirit) to fish the Friendly Sons of Shillelagh annual fluke tourney.
Decided to only keep fish well over twenty inches today while fishing for a good fish to weigh in .
Boxed 17 nice fish to Ed's 8.73 and My 8.36, taking home the second and fifth place money, with those two fish.
def another fun day on the water.

Grandpa savino fluke tournament
Headed over to fish the Grand pa savino tourney with Scott , Eddie and Anthony this morning. Hoping for the added money door mat division which required a ten pound plus fish just to qualify to weigh.
We beat the fluke up really hard today , with eddie doing a number on the bigger fish. actually catching the 3 fish we weighed for the tourney, coming in at 22.55 which was good enough to take home third. his biggest was 8.1
one fish over 11 pounds was weighed, taking the door mat as well as the tourney , BUT heard that fish wasnt in the calcuttas, will know for sure at the pay out meeting which is on Tuesday night.
Def liked the way this tourney was run as ALL fish weighed in were on an electronic scale right in front of the crowd. was pretty cool with the big crowd cheering on all the big fish being brought to the scales
kept our four man limit with 8 fish being over 6 pounds, a pair of those over 7 and the 8 plus
getting closer each week , just need a few more pounds

Tracey had the two biggest at 5 3/4 and 5 pounds even .
Nice afternoon on super flat seas

Victory at Sea flukng Leonardo flukemasters tourney
Headed out On Scott's boat with Scott, Eddie, Anthony , and Steve to fish the flukemasters tourney.
In spite of fishing in wicked rain, 4-6 foot seas, and a howling east wind. we still were able to catch over a boat limit of fluke bucktailing.( only keeping 22/25 we were allowed).
Scott did a good job of keeping us on fish that were chewing in spite of us continually getting mugged by the few boats around us seeing us netting some fish
had a few good fish dropped today that could have helped our weights , as we finished just out of the money with a five fish limit weighing 28 pounds on the nose.
I had an 8#3 oz followed by Scott's 6# 11oz, the remainder a few fish over 4 pounds for our 28 pounds.
congrats to those who placed
Not too hard to tell our reel of choice for fluking LOL

SLOW afternoon fluking 7/29
After dropping my prop bushing in the river pulling out a mile of fishing line from our dock. With some spare parts Capt Rich bailed me out, and put it back together with an extra hub he had on hand. Went out to do some fluking with Tracey and Steve.
With only a few hours left of the day we bounced around some local snags, where I seemed to lose ALOT more bucktails than usual on an unreal slow drift.
we had only a few shorts, except for Tracey catching her first keeper Bucktailing

RBA fluke tourney 7/19 another good day
Headed out with Scott and Eddie to fish the Raritan bay anglers fluke tourney yesterday.
Went back to the not so secret spot and had another good pull of quality fluke ,catching 25 keepers ( only keeping our limit of 15)
We were throwing back 3-5 pounders at days end as we had already boxed our limit -1 looking for a better fish.
Nothing big enough to weigh in as the best was Eddie's at 6#2 OZ.
Nice day on the water.
Congrats to the winners

FINALLY back in the water 7/13
Finally got the boat back from its engine overhaul.
Dropped it back in last night, and ran it for a half hour or so.
Felt and ran sweet. so hopefully its all set for the rest of the season.
I want to thank all those who had bass charters booked with me for understanding it frustrated me even more than it did them to not get out .
Hopefully this crappy weather passes and we can get back out for some big fluke

found a nice pod of quality fluke , with most being between 4-6 pounds, biggest was 6 LB 4 oz at the weigh in .

SLOW FLUKIN 6-28
Since the boat is still in the shop headed out on Scotts boat with him and Tracey.
went looking to find some new turf with little to show for it. with little drift conditions
bounced around some of our normal spots , but by then the south wind had really cranked up .
Scott and I each managed 3 keepers to 4 pounds, but that was it besides about a dozen shorts.
Still nice to get back out on the water.
Hopefully Mercury gets my parts here so I can get my boat bank in the water.

Bounced around and caught a few decent fish to Steve's 4 pounder.
Then headed off to bass, after getting a call it was starting to go off.
made a long run back to the bait. and moved around till finding good marks and picked a few bass to 28 pounds.
Nice night on the water.

GOT MY BASS KICKED
Headed out to do some fluke fishing with Tracey this afternoon followed by bass.
only a few short fluke to show for our efforts , the big SE swell probably had alot to do with that .
She caught the biggest sea bass today , just over 4 pounds as well as 5 others between 2 and 4 pounds while fluking
.
Then had our biggest bass of the night at 34 pounds.
