Decided it was time to pull the boat today. After jockeying trailers at the marina and getting the truck loaded up.
Tracey and I headed out for a few hours of blackfishing.
Got anchored up at 1130 and by 130 we had a limit in the box.
The best of was Tracey's PB at 9 Pounds 4 OZ .
Bite was steady but they def were not committing to tugging at the bait.
Instead you would just feel them pick the bait up , and them feel them chewing the crab softly. a quick lift and it was game on
Shorts outnumbered keepers by about 2-1.
Nice to have some steady action before putting the boat away for its short winter nap.
Had a surveyor from NMFS stop us at the dock, where he weighed and measured all of the fish.

BUMMER Blackfish 11/23
Headed out to blackfish with Tracey, Eddie and his boys today.
big SE heave seemed to really put a damper on the bite.
Hit 6 spots that all had life on them , lots of shorts, few keepers, and TONS of dogfish.
Tracey had the first keeper, Austin the biggest tog, and ED and ED Jr were about tied for KING of the Dogfish
water temps were down to 51 a drastic jump from last weekend.
wish the weekend weather would give me a break every now and then. The should have been here yesterday is starting to get old QUICK.

C/R Tog with a side of Biscuits
Headed out with Tracey, Scott, and Jacob to do some toggin today. hoping to see Jacob get his first tog.
Also took a few quarts of clams to grab a few biscuits while we were there.
Fishing was a steady bite for most of the day.
Everyone caught their tog limit. and a few throw backs , and we had a fish basket full of sea bass, along with one lone porgy.
nice day on the water.
was shocked to see more boats out today than I had all summer.

TOG LIMIT 10/12/14
Not that it means much as the limit of tog right now is only 1 fish per angler .
headed out to run the boat a bit today , deciding to do some togging if we could find some fish that wanted to chew.
Was a slow pick through the whole tide, but never a good bite EXCEPT for all the BIG sea bass we had to throw back as that season is closed until the 18th.
We each kept our 1 fish limit of blackfish, the nicest one going 6 1/2 pounds.
also got into a bluefish blitz on the ride home, but they were small only being about 15".
sea were ugly and nothing like the NOAA forcast when we headed out but really layed down nice after noon , so made for a pleasant ride home.
cant wait till all the normal fall fishing seasons open .

A DAY ON THE SWEETWATER TROUT FISHING
Got an invite from Steve to fish the Upper Delaware on a float trip with Capt Mike of Sweetwater Guide service.
Made our way far north to start the day.
Scenary was awesome, can only get better the next few weeks, as the fall colors come in.
Fishing was pretty steady for both wild Rainbows, and browns with most of the fish being in the 18-20 inch range.
super fights on light tackle, with alot of aerial leaps as the wild trout put up quite a show.
Had some walleye as well as smallmouth to fill in during the time between riffs.
Def a fun day in a very quite relaxing spot

BITTERSWEET FLUKING 9/5
After having the worst week of my life, losing my mother on Wednesday.
Making funeral arrangements yesterday, I had to get out of my house today.
As many peoples mothers are, mine was always there for me in every way. She helped me realize a dream of owning a boat I could comfortably fish a little harder than my old 19', when I purchased my Sea Pro 238., seemed most times she called the conversation started with her asking if I was fishing, or heading to the boat. It brought her ALOT of joy knowing I really enjoyed owning and fishing this boat as much as possible.
So today I headed out with Tracey and Steve to spend a day out on the boat.
We ran north to the ruff stuff finding no drift at all, so kept going north to the channels.
But the water there was dirty and the drift very fast in both the SH and the Ambrose channels. so afer an hour or so and only one keeper in the box we headed back to the ruff stuff.
The drift was better, even getting a little too fast when the tide and wind were together, but using an 8' drift sock we managed to put together a limit catch of really nice fluke.
We had 8 fish over 5 pounds, four of those over six, the biggest going 7#1 oz.
Steve had the hot hand and was the first to limit. Then I finished mine catching the 3 big fish on three consecutive drifts.
Was another great day on the water, but I had tears in my eyes driving home through the now sloppy south wind chop.
I can only hope that while I cant tell my mom about another great day I had , that she had seen it from above
I know she will always be there in my heart, until the day we meet again
